Together these galaxies bear the name of M.E. Stephan, who observed them in 1877. The group contains both elliptical (NGC 7317 in the lower right) and spiral (NGC 7320 in the lower left) galaxies. Three of the five are clearly disturbed and have probably interacted. The elliptical NGC 7318a is one of a pair of galaxies in the center of the image that are apparently interacting. The interaction seems to have disturbed NGC 7318a, although it is difficult to tell if the streamers are from the elliptical or its companion spiral. Since this image is only two dimensional, it provides no direct information on the galaxies’ distance from each other. Through redshift analysis, however, we can
